Spring has sprung
Friday, March 27th, 2009It is always nice to wake up at camp, see the sun shining through the window, and know it is going to be a great day . Walking outside at a little past seven this morning it was already in the high 50’s, a perfect early spring day. By 11 AM it was in the mid 60’s and the birds were chirping. This weather is what we were waiting for up here; it’s time to get down to business.
Over the next few weeks I will be posting weekly (or bi-weekly or daily or possibly hourly) entries updating the Birch Hill community on our progress in spring cleanup, renovations, and whatever other shenanigans we find ourselves in up here in New Durham. I have included some “before” pictures here, and will hopefully be back in a few days with the first actions shots.
This week was also exciting because we have had some guests. Jake Jackson is here after a cross country journey from Oregon and Chad McGowan is finishing up a week long visit with us as well. They will both be back this summer along with our amazing staff of new and returning counselors.

The path to the tennis courts and girl's cabins covered in snow and debris

Winter storm damage to the tennis court fence.

The upper field and lower soccer field, still about two feet of snow down there.

Oops...the snow falling off the roof took out the railing on our deck.

Our esteemed visitor and assistant director extraordinaire.
